Personalisation

…is the permanent assignment of certain documents to individuals or vehicles. Personalised documents may be vehicle license plates, windshield labels ("third license plates") or other proof of registration, for example in card form.

They form the basis of the identification process. Depending on the scope of the registration system (vehicle, owner, driving license or person database), data on vehicles, owners or drivers can be conveniently obtained from any location.

The udata personalisation module sends the required data to the personalisation devices and manages the documents. The individual features or stored items of information are linked to the data in the registration system.

UTSCH supplies suitable personalisation technology for the different types of documents:

License plates

A license plate can be personalised in multiple individually selected stages.

The basic personalisation of a license plate involves the addition of a registration number in line with national regulations. This alphanumeric code is normally embossed on to an aluminium plate and then inked.

This process can take place in distributed locations (in smaller manual or computer-controlled units) or a central location (in large computer-controlled systems with high output).

In addition to the embossed number, each plate can be given an individual feature such as a serial number. During registration this feature is linked to the registration number and therefore the vehicle, making forgery much more difficult.

In addition to visually readable information, machine-readable data can be added to a plate, e.g. in a barcode or RFID chip. At this highest level, a vehicle can be automatically identified with the aid of mobile or stationary reading devices.

windshield label

Displaying the same country-specific license number as the two aluminium license plates on the front and rear of the vehicle, a windshield label serves as a "third license plate".

It is personalised with an office laser printer or a thermal transfer printer. As an option, additional registration information such as vehicle type and colour can be added to the windshield label.
Like the license plate, the windshield label can also be given an individual feature such as a serial number. During registration this is linked to the registration number and therefore the vehicle, making forgery much more difficult.

In addition to visually readable information, machine-readable data can be added to a windshield label, e.g. in a barcode or RFID chip. At this highest level, a vehicle can be automatically identified with the aid of mobile or stationary reading devices.

ID card

The ID card is a document that serves as proof of proper vehicle registration or the possession of an official driving license.

ID cards in credit card format have proved especially popular. These sturdy plastic cards can also be enhanced with a range of security features.

As well as visually readable information, the ID card can incorporate machine-readable information, for example in a magnetic strip, a barcode or an RFID unit. ID cards are personalised with special printing technology or laser personalisation equipment.
